Scan your first document

  1. Open Scanner and grant Camera and Photos access when prompted
  2. Tap the scan button on the home screen or tab bar
  3. Point your camera at the document — edges are detected automatically
  4. Review the scan, adjust crop if needed, and save to your library
  5. Optionally extract text, export to PDF, or use AI features from the file menu

How do I scan a document?
Open Scanner, tap the scan button on the home screen or tab bar, and point your camera at the document. The app automatically detects edges and captures a clean scan. You can also import images from your photo library.
How does text extraction (OCR) work?
Scanner uses on-device OCR powered by Apple Vision to recognize text from your scans. Open a scanned file and tap Extract Text to copy, export, or share the recognized content. PRO unlocks full-text copy and advanced export formats.
What export formats are supported?
You can export scans and extracted text to PDF, Word, Excel, and plain text, depending on the feature you are using. Some export formats require a PRO subscription.
What is included in the free version?
The free version includes core scanning, on-device OCR, and basic file organization. Free users can scan up to 3 documents per day. Some AI and export features have limited previews — upgrade to PRO for full access.
What is Scanner PRO?
PRO unlocks unlimited scans, advanced OCR, cloud sync & backup, AI-powered document analysis, Ask AI, key information extraction, and premium export options. PRO is available as a monthly subscription, yearly subscription, or one-time lifetime purchase through the App Store.
How do I restore my PRO purchase?
Open the PRO paywall screen and tap Restore Purchases. Make sure you are signed in with the same Apple ID used for the original purchase.
How do I cancel my subscription?
Subscriptions are managed by Apple:
  1. Open iPhone Settings
  2. Tap your Apple ID at the top
  3. Tap Subscriptions
  4. Select Scanner
  5. Tap Cancel Subscription
Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period.
How do I request a refund?
Refunds for App Store purchases are handled by Apple. Visit reportaproblem.apple.com and sign in with your Apple ID to submit a refund request.
Is my data stored on your servers?
Most scanning and OCR processing happens locally on your device. If you use optional AI features, relevant document content may be sent to third-party AI providers only when you actively use those features. See our Privacy Policy for details.
Does Scanner work on iPad?
Yes. Scanner is optimized for both iPhone and iPad with a dedicated layout for larger screens, including sidebar navigation and an adapted onboarding experience.
The camera or photo library is not working
Make sure Scanner has permission to access your camera and photos. Go to Settings > Scanner on your device and enable Camera and Photos access. If the issue persists, restart the app or your device and contact us with details.
AI results seem inaccurate
AI-generated summaries, translations, and extracted information are provided for convenience and may not always be complete or accurate. Always review important documents independently before relying on AI output.
